England travel destinations and premium Reading taxi from airport company

Reading to Heathrow taxi excellent company and England travel destinations? Wales is also a bargain. Choose Llandudno for a heritage seaside stay or take your pick from hikers’ B&Bs and country inns in Snowdonia; the Dolgellau area has appealing small options. There are excellent boutique hotels in St Davids and outside Tenby; both are worth a couple of nights each. The red-brick villages of the West Chilterns en route to Oxford have long been the stuff of movie magic. You’ll recognise Turville, Hambleden and Watlington from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Vicar of Dibley, Poirot and Midsomer Murders. You don’t have time to explore the West Country but around Bath are market towns that offer tasters of its rural good life. Shepton Mallet and Frome, plus Stroud in the Cotswolds, are my picks. If you’re after somewhere more rural head into Herefordshire or stop in the Wye Valley for a gentle day canoeing around Symonds Yat.

The former 1950s Bankside Power Station on a once-scruffy stretch of the Thames is now one of the most admired buildings in London and a world-class modern art gallery. The vast industrial space was put to impressive use by architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, who won a competition to design the new Tate Gallery in Giles Gilbert Scott’s original building. The Turbine Hall, a huge exhibition space that usually hosts large-scale sculptures and installations, is especially awe-inspiring. The rugged Lake District National Park in northwest England is dotted with dramatic beauty spots from craggy mountains and deep forests to shimmering lakes, but Lake Windermere is one of the most famous. At 10.5-miles (17km) long, Windermere is England’s largest natural lake and has inspired numerous poets and authors, including local lad William Wordsworth and Arthur Ransome of Swallows and Amazons fame.

If you get yourself to Heathrow Airport with plenty of time to spare, you can escape the crowds in one of the many lounges dotted around the airport. However, unless you have a membership of a loyalty program or you’re traveling business class, you have to pay to enter. We recommend the No 1 Lounge at terminal 3 to retreat for a couple of hours before your departure. Sometimes, if you’re planning on purchasing a newspaper, accessing the Wi-Fi and splurging on drinks and food, it’s cheaper to pay for the lounge and get it all for free. You’ll also be able to enjoy some stunning views of the runway while you wait to be called to your gate for departure.

If you’re looking for a mind-blowingly strong and delicious cocktail in sumptuous surroundings, this hotel bar is the right place. It’s Stanley Tucci’s go-to and was Ian Fleming’s when he was penning the Bond books. Cocktails are among the most expensive in the city, but bar snacks are fabulous. Stagger across the cobbles of St James’s on your way out (the drinks really are that strong). It’s famous for its theatrical presentation of Martinis, created from a trolley that’s wheeled to you.

Covering some 900 square miles, Lake District National Park is a must-visit destination for travelers to England. With 12 of the country’s largest lakes and more than 2,000 miles of rights of way waiting to be explored, there’s little wonder the region continues to inspire, with its magnificent views and scenery straight out of a painting. Other things to do include visiting the park’s many fells, including Scafell Pike (3,210 feet), the highest mountain in England. Be sure to also spend time exploring some of the lovely little towns and villages dotted throughout the region, such as Grasmere. Better still, hop aboard a tour boat excursion across Lake Windermere and Ullswater, and you’ll be rewarded with some of the best scenery anywhere in the country. There’s also popular Hampstead Heath in the northwest, one of the city’s most-loved green spaces, which boasts great views. There are swimming ponds to cool off during summer and plenty of space to stretch out. It might seem odd to visit London and spend your time in a park, given there are parks and green spaces right across the world. I did not appreciate how valuable proximity to green spaces would be until I had been in London for several months. When it is a nice day, these spaces really come alive, as people from all walks of life enjoy them peacefully together. The novelty of walking barefoot across the grass and grabbing a cheeky nap in the sunshine after a lovely picnic lunch is one of my favorite things to do on a nice day.

It’s a long wait so why not watch a movie. You will need your laptop and a USB flash drive. At the touchscreen kiosks, you can download your favorite film on the drive and load it on to your laptop. These are not available at all airports in the US yet. Digiboo and iTunes are the most popular ones at the moment. Take advantage of samples of lotions and hand creams to hydrate your skin. You are going to need it if you have arrived from a long flight. Zero cost and gives you a chance to explore the whole shopping scene. See even more information on here.

I recommend pre-booking your train tickets though as it’s much cheaper and the queue to collect tickets is normally much shorter than to buy new tickets. Usually I can get a direct train to London Bridge or Blackfriars for £10-12 depending on the day. There’s also a bus station (about a ten minute walk from the South Terminal via tunnels/hallways) that connects you with pretty much the entire country. The North Terminal is only a short (free) tram ride away the South Terminal. There’s also plenty of parking if you’re planning on driving and it’s much cheaper than Heathrow.
