This fundraiser event casino night is a Kentucky Derby Themed: You can win big – On top of a sweet blanket of roses, Derby winners take home $2 million. That’s a nice chunk of change. People bet big – When it comes to Kentucky Derby facts, it’s no surprise that people bet big. But would you be impressed if we told you people bet nearly $209.2 million in 2017? A lot of luck and just $1 could’ve made you $75,974.50 richer at the 2017 Derby. All you would’ve had to do is pick the top four horses in the 2017 Kentucky Derby in the correct order.

THIS IS A 21-AND OVER EVENT: Grab your big hats, appetite and the thrill of casino style gambling celebrating the most exciting two minutes in sports. Guests can purchase either a seat at a table or reserve a table for 8 people.

Event will start with complimentary food and drinks from 3 – 4:30 pm, then followed immediately with a full authentic casino gaming and Kentucky Derby race viewings.

NO: jeans/denim, shorts, t-shirts, cropped or midriff tops, athletic or swim wear, tennis shoes, and/or flip-flops!

Kentucky Derby history moment: In 1931, it was decided that the Derby’s date would be permanently set for the first Saturday in May. Previously, the date had fluctuating throughout the month, but a fixed calendar would allow for optimal race scheduling for horses hoping to win the Triple Crown. In 1973, Secretariat won the 99th Kentucky Derby with a winning time that has still never been beaten, 1:59.40. Churchill Downs Racetrack was officially recognized as a National Historic Landmark in 1986. Originally, Black jockeys, many of whom were formerly enslaved, turned to the sport for work. In fact, at the very first Derby in 1875, 13 of the 15 jockeys were Black. As the sport grew, they benefitted from the rising profession. In 1890 and 1891 Issac Murphy became the first consecutive winner of the Kentucky Derby, and with that, became the first Black millionaire athlete, according to ABC News.
