Complete guide to coffee: Coffee is a brewed beverage made from the roasted seeds, or “beans,” of the coffee plant. The coffee plant is a shrub native to subtropical regions of Africa and Asia, although the plant is now cultivated throughout Central and South America as well. Once the berries of the coffee plant are harvested, the flesh is removed and discarded, leaving only the seed. Prior to roasting the beans have a grey-green color and are referred to as green coffee; because the beans are shelf-stable at this point, they are sold and shipped green.

Espresso – Espresso is the base for other coffee drinks and is prepared by forcing nearly boiling water into tamped fine ground coffee under pressure. The result is thus a concentrated liquid of dissolved and suspended flavors of coffee with a little crema on top. The size of a basic espresso is 25 ml which can be further classified as single, double or triple shot(25 ml,50 ml or 75 ml) according to the strength required. As it was further stated, it is the base of other coffee beverages like; Cappuccino, Latte, Mocha, Macchiato and Americano. Espresso gained its popularity in the 1980s but at that time it was just available in the stores only. Gesha/Geisha: This is an original variety of Arabica. It is named for the Ethiopian village that it originated from and wasn’t actually planted/harvested commercialy until the 1950s.
