As before, it performed best for rolling resistance and interior noise, where it came third and first respectively. Its engineers also seem to have found the recipe for improving fuel economy without sacrificing grip in the rain, as the Goodyear came second in the straight aquaplaning test. Elsewhere, the Goodyear tended to sit in the middle of the pack, with a dry-circuit lap less than a second behind the winner and a stopping distance within three metres of the top result. If you don’t want to be paying top dollar, like last year I’ll be recommending the Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3, Falken Azenis FK510 and Nokian PowerProof. All three of these tyres come in a little under the top three price wise, and offer great grip and comfort, especially the Falken and Nokian. Think of those as more competitors for the comfort bias UHP tyre segment. It’s also DEFINITELY worth looking into the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti, as this has been testing really well this year, and it’s a tyre I really like.
A high-speed summer tire with an asymmetric tread pattern from the Italian manufacturer that is continuing the legendary Pzero line. The tire provides excellent coupling quality on dry and wet asphalt and is also used as a stock option for many high-speed cars. Summer tire from the Dutch manufacturer intended for aggressive and ultra-fast driving in powerful cars. The design of the tire is very similar to the usual UHP Vredestein Ultrac Vorti tire: it has the same asymmetric tread, central rib and wide channels for aquaplaning resistance. In addition, it is impossible not to notice the pronounced outside shoulder that provides confident cornering and stable handling.
